I am constantly looking for more information on diet and how it relates to heart disease.  One of my best sources is You Tube because there are so many videos available from experts in this field.

I am including a few links from programs presented by Dr. Esselstyn that I highly recommend to anyone who is concerned about preventing or reversing heart disease.  These videos contain information regarding the affect of our diet on our health as well as choices we can make to prevent or reverse heart disease.

"Make Yourself Heart Attack Proof"

Caldwell Esselstyn, MD of the famed Cleveland Clinic gives a FULL 62 minute talk from the 2003 VegSource Healthy Lifestyle Expo.

Dr. Esselstyn's ongoing 21-year study shows that you CAN reverse heart disease and save your life. Of 20 patients sent home to die by their cardiologists in 1989, every one is still alive and healthy today, and heart-disease free, even though together they had had a total of 63 cardiac events before entering his study.

There's one group of experts who are the exception -- whole food, plant-based diet experts. Their diets work. You wouldn't take financial advice from a pauper! Educating Yourself

            There are many ways to get educated about lowering cholesterol and reversing heart disease, and reducing your chances of acquiring a variety of common cancers.   Let’s start with the books.

Required reading:  The top 5 in order …

1: Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease, by: Caldwell B Esselstyn, Jr., M.D.   (His results with patients having end stage heart disease are staggeringly impressive!  To Quote him, “Heart disease is a toothless paper tiger that need not exist…”  also some good recipes.)

2: The China Study, by: T. Colin Campbell, PhD. (This is the most comprehensive study of nutrition ever conducted.  It frames things well and it explains the problem and the cure and and the political issues.  You will find yourself asking, “why didn’t I ever know this sooner?” Remember, knowledge is power!)

3: The Spectrum, by: Dean Ornish, M.D. ( He does a great job of breaking down our food choices five ways from most healthy #1 to least healthy #5…. If you are a heart patient like me..  Choice #1 is your only option however.  He also adds into the mix mind and exercise components.) 

4: The Complete IDIOTS Guide To Plant-Based Nutrition, by: Julianna Hever, M.S., R.D., C.P.T.  This book has it all! I loved this book! Well done.  Great recipes as well.  Just remember, when ever you see “OIL” of any kind replace it with Vegetable broth, leave it out of the recipe all together, or use non- stick Reynolds Wrap or parchment paper.

5: Forks Over Knives: The Plant-Based Way To Health, (Campbell and Esselstyn)    ( This is now a cult following given the fact that the DVD of the same title is in the movie theaters.   Great recipes in the back as well.)

Now…  Don’t like reading or Don’t have time? Ok..  Go to the internet and type in the search window:  www.vegsource.com and you will find windows for DVD’s on  several of the above resources…. And more… Still to much trouble?

Then… Just go to www.heartattackproof.com and click in the blue box on the left marked “Media”… then Scroll down to the 62 minute video by Dr. Esselstyn ….  Just do it your life may depend on it!  It’s just below a couple video’s on how “Slick Willie” Clinton, our former president was saved by going Plant-Based…
